Battle of the Books Mrs. Paulette Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in grades 4 and up. Students read books from a select list and come together to test their knowledge of the books they have read. 
Great Computer Challenge Ms. Holman, Librarian Great Computer Challenge is a regional competition, sponsored by WHRO, that has been held at Old Dominion University for over 25 years. Student teams are given the opportunity to enhance their 21st learning skills by participating in challenges in the areas of Desktop Publishing, Desktop Presentation, Graphic Arts, Video Editing, and Internet Scavenger Hunt. 
Morning News Crew Ms. Holman As a member of the Knights in the Morning News Crew students have an opportunity to engage in mass communication/broadcasting skills as they present information, such as the weather report, the daily lunch menu, etc. to Barron students and staff each morning. 
Orgami Club Mr. Locke, Mrs.Johnson & Mrs. Norris   
Safety Patrol Mrs. Jones Safety Patrols assist staff with reminding fellow students about following school rules, which helps to keep everyone safe on school grounds. 
S.C.A. Ms. Gerczak In the SCA students learn leadership skills by serving in the elected offices of president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, chaplain, historian and class representative. 
STREAM Mrs. Ryder, Mrs. Jackson & Mrs. Hobbs S.T.R.E.A.M. is a STEM based program that introduces students to the STEM field, and helps students achieve growth in areas of academics, physical fitness, nutrition, and improved social behavior through cooperative groups and hands-on projects. 
Yearbook Committee Mr. Locke The yearbook committee helps to gather pictures and interviews from students and staff to create the annual yearbook.
