Mrs. Darlene Jones, Health & PE Teacher

I am proud to say that I am Hampton native, product of Hampton City Schools and earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Old Dominion University.  My goal is for all students to acquire the knowledge, processes, skills, and confidence needed to engage in meaningful physical activities both in the present and for a lifetime.  The practice of leading a physically active lifestyle will bring about personal enjoyment, challenge, satisfaction, and health-enhancing level of personal fitness. Throughout the year, we will be working on five strands: Skilled Movement, Movement Principles and Concepts, Personal Fitness, Responsible Behaviors, and Physically Active Lifestyles. I look forward to teaching and learning from each one of the Barron Knights this year!

Ms. Jay Holman, Librarian

The Barron Elementary School Library will provide for its patrons, both staff and students, an environment that is both physically and intellectually conducive to the academic achievement and/or professional development of each client, a variety of resources aligned with elementary school curriculum standards, and a framework from which all learners can develop the skills necessary to become responsible, diligent, and effective seekers and users of information through various textual and technological means.

Mrs. Mary Gore, Music Teacher

I look forward to sharing the joy of music with your children this year at Barron Elementary. Music is a universal language. While it is not considered a “core” subject, in many ways it connects with all of the areas of learning you child will be involved in.

Please see my letter attached below!

 Ms. Shelly Kelly, Art Teacher

Welcome to Knight Art at Barron Elementary. I'm Shelly Kelly and I'm excited to be teaching your child this year. We will learn and review the elements of art in our art room. Line, color, space, shape and texture are some of the topics that we will study this year. Art concepts will come to life in both 2 and 3-D projects. During the course of the year, our lessons will include drawing and painting, weaving and sculpture, to name a few. We'll also learn about famous artists and how they've incorporated the elements of art in their works. Look for your child's art work to come home once a quarter. When you see that art bundle, please be sure to discuss their projects with your child. I look forward to a great year teaching the students and watching as their creativity unfolds!
